Special Issue on ChatGPT in Education |
|
We are delighted to announce a special issue of the International Journal of Technology in Education (IJTE) - www.ijte.net dedicated to exploring the implications of ChatGPT, a powerful generative AI tool, in the field of education. The introduction of ChatGPT in education has sparked debates about its potential implications for education. While advocates of ChatGPT praise its ability to support education for instance in terms of providing adaptive and personalised environments, there are some concerns about the ethical considerations of ChatGPT, as well as its potential negative effects on assessment practices, scientific integrity, and students’ higher-order thinking skills (Farrokhnia et al., 2023). Therefore, it is essential to understand how to best utilize this novel AI tool in education to enhance current practices. This special issue aims to convene researchers, educators, and practitioners to share insights, research findings, and innovative approaches related to the use of ChatGPT in educational settings. We invite submissions of original research papers with robust conceptual and theoretical contributions and/or rigorous empirical designs using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed approaches to investigate the integration of ChatGPT in education. We encourage studies conducted in various educational contexts, including K-12 and higher education, to provide a comprehensive understanding of the potential applications and challenges of ChatGPT across different levels of education.
